Rotten Tomatoes is an American No 1 movie and television aggregation website founded and launched in August 1998 by Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang, three (3) undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley.
Rotten Tomatoes and the Tomatometer score are the world’s most trusted recommendation resources for quality entertainment. As the leading online aggregator of movie and TV show reviews from critics, its provide fans with a comprehensive guide to what’s Fresh, what’s Rotten in theaters and at home.
Many argued that reviews are more reliable from Rotten Tomatoes, mainly because it is operated by film critics and those that went to film school. Whereas, iMDB allows anyone to vote and write reviews on movies and television shows.
Rotten Tomatoes has been owned by Flixster since January 2010, which was in turn acquired by Warner Bros. in 2011. In February 2016, Rotten Tomatoes and its parent site Flixster were sold to Comcast’s Fandango ticketing company. Warner Bros. retained a minority stake in the merged entities, including Fandango.
